The Story - Behind the Product
The power of two archaic skin care remedies unite to combat blemishes and oily skin. Clear, glowing skin is once again possible thanks to the wisdom of our ancestors. Thousands of species of trees cover the earth, each with their unique medicinal properties. And while most might value the edible fruit, the medicinal bark is often overlooked. Ancient Sumerians were recognized as the first known people to benefit from the willow bark. But it wasn’t until the 1970’s that scientists identified the active ingredient- salicylic acid. Since then the acid has been largely synthetically produced. Today salicylic acid (almost always synthetic) has made its way into a myriad of anti-acne products as well as products for unclogging congested pores. Osun bark has been used in West Africa as a skin remedy for thousands of years. Extracted from the camwood tree, osun bark is one of the primary ingredients in African black soap giving it its name dudu osun. Willow and osun barks work synergistically to decrease dead skin and support a healthy biome for acne prone/ oily skin types.
But as amazing as salicylic acid and tree barks are, the real super hero in this wash is genuine African black soap. Yes, this is the deal. Not the dyed and charcoal knock offs. Only real African black soap has holds the power to completely transform skin. Real African soap, invented and produced by West African natives, is still made by traditional method in far off, remote villages. The women use locally sourced plants to produce the now infamous soap. Only genuine African black soap benefits the women of West Africa. They appreciate your honest support of their heritage.
